We woke up to sun yesterday and made the drive back over Flowery Trail Pass to Chewelah. Jack's brother Gary's former in laws have a place on the golf course there and reserved a tee time for us. The course is beautiful and winds through canyons and up and down some impressive hills. Our golf cart was purple with a big Husky "W" emblem on the front. My Cougar daughter would have been appalled. I started out playing four of the best holes of golf ever but it quickly disintegrated to crap. This course has 27 holes...the only one of it's kind in Eastern Washington. Wild turkeys run across the course and there are moose and other wildlife as well.
Back over the pass in the evening. Just past the Summit there is some sort of commune or encampment. Old trailers and tents, a few outhouses and a sign that says "Zodiac Festival, All Welcome..No Guns" Apparently the numbers swell into the hundreds over the weekends but we only saw two guys sitting in chairs staring off into the distant mountains.
Last night shortly after we climbed into bed I heard what I thought was a bucket of water being dumped on the roof of the 5th wheel. It was rain! Jack jumped up and closed the vents as the rain was dripping in. It was an impressive downpour.
Some high clouds this morning that look like they will burn off.
