The sun came out this morning so we took a trip up the east side of Priest Lake. The lake is 19 miles long through heavily forested terrain. There are a few communities built along the lake which we assumed were Summer homes as they would be very very remote in the Winter. There are over 400 miles of groomed snowmobile trails as well as the Priest Lake Golf Club which serves as a Cross Country Ski site in Winter. We stopped at The Blue Diamond Marina and checked out some of the nice boats moored there.
In the 1920's an actress,Nell Shipman, built a movie camp called Lions Head Lodge at the north end of the lake. She produced her own silent films and maintained a menagerie of wild animals which included bears. The lodge no longer exists and was replaced by a campground.
Back to the RV Park via the town of Priest River which is at the confluence of the Priest and Pend Oreille Rivers.
